“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.” Mt. 5:6
“As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God…” Psalm 42:1
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Phil. 2:5-8
“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chron. 7-14
“Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” 2 Cor. 7:1
” “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither [k]cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Rev. 3:15-16
The Spirit of Christ put three words on my heart one day. Not just words. Must-have’s. Necessities. Vitally important ingredients to a forever relationship with God. Exceedingly important aspects of having a close, intimate, ever-growing personal relationship with Christ as Lord. Key elements of being God’s kids. Of being on the highway to heaven instead of the pathway to hell and the lake of fire. Fundamental components of living a life pleasing and honoring to God. Absolute necessities in receiving rewards in heaven for how we who follow Jesus have lived on this earth.
HUNGER.
HUMILITY.
HOLINESS.
HUNGER. We must hunger and thirst for the Lord and for intimate fellowship with Him and in so doing seek Him and spend time with Him and read His Word and praise and worship and obey Him. We must hunger and thirst for righteousness. For Christ’s righteousness which we are given when we turn from our sins and believe in Him as Lord. And for the righteousness that describes a life lived in obedience to God and His ways as the Bible teaches.
HUMILITY. We must continually humble ourselves before the Lord because He despises pride and because we need to model Jesus in that He humbled Himself and above all else because Jesus Christ is Lord forever and we are NOTHING without Him. Our entire lives need to be marked by humility. And, when the Spirit of God shows us we are being or thinking pridefully, we need to turn from our pride and return to a position of humility.
HOLINESS. God calls us to be holy as He is holy. We are to live lives of purity and repentance. Of purifying ourselves to bring pleasure and joy to God. Of becoming more and more Christ-like. Of ever growing in God’s glorious image. He is holy. So through Christ should we be.
Those whose lives are marked by such HUNGER, HUMILITY, and HOLINESS are not lukewarm when it comes to Jesus as Jesus warns us of His hatred for lukewarmness. HUNGER, HUMILITY, and HOLINESS reflect hearts aflame amid a passionate pursuit of Jesus and to fulfill God’s will for our lives in the context of loving and worshiping Him forevermore!
